Trucking will be one of the first sectors for the widespread adoption of autonomous vehicles. We already see a number of companies, including Daimler and Embark, successfully executing cross-country trips. Advancements in self-driving technology combined with platooning, which allows for several trucks to follow each other, will reduce fuel costs and improve efficiency in the movement of freight. However, with approximately 3.5 million truckers on the road in the US, the transition to self-driving trucks will have a massive impact on our supply chain, as well as our workforce.
